Information on Surrogacy

Am I eligible if my partner's past is questionable?

HI, I have already been matched with a couple. the agency is going to do a background check on me and my boyfriend. I know my history is flawless however my boyfriend has had some trouble with the law before we met which was 5 yrs ago. My question is will they deny me because of my boyfriend's wild younger years?

It is quite possible that you will be denied because of your boyfriend's past, depending on what exactly that entails. Domestic abuse, violent crime, and drug abuse would be top on the list of reasons to deny you.

The thing most people don't realize is how involved a surrogate's partner is in the process of surrogacy. Partners with questionable pasts may be too high of a risk for an agency or a set of intended parents.

If the history can be explained away, it would probably be a good idea to bring up the "wild days" before the background is completed and take a proactive approach to this delicate topic.

Best wishes.
