We have a potential surrogate who would be a Gestational surrogate in Michigan. However, we live out of state. Is it possible to have such an arrangement? If no agency would assist us in the process how do we go about contracts/agreements?? Thank you!
Reply by Rayven Out of state arrangements are very common in surrogacy, as are out of country arrangements, and arrangements without an agency.
But, I must caution you, Michigan is NOT the best state to do surrogacy in. Your surrogate mother is not permitted to receive compensation, and the legal issues surrounding surrogacy in Michigan are not favorable to intended parents. Please contact a surrogacy attorney who practices in Michigan for details on how to proceed.
