If you have a arrest for a misdormeter can you be a surrogate with an agency?
Reply by Rayven Its really hard to answer this question, and it depends on so many factors.
On the surface, I'd say that most agencies would not be interested in pursuing a surrogate with a criminal record. But it really depends on both the agency and the reason for the charges.
How long ago did this take place? When you were young and made some poor decisions? Have you grown up, become stable, started a family, and so on since then?
What were the charges? Shoplifting? Not good, but probably forgivable. Drug possession? Really not good, especially if it was recent. Domestic violence? Probably one of the worst things you could have on your record in regards to surrogacy.
Depending on the charge, getting in with an agency is probably the least of your concerns. If it is a drug or abuse related charge, you might not find a set of intended parents willing to work with you, agency or not.
A drug related charge would make intended parents nervous about whether you would be doing drugs while pregnant with their child, and an abuse related charge would have them wondering if you could get physically hurt while pregnant with their child.
Assuming the charge is small and really not related to violence or drugs, the best course of action is to be upfront with an agency or potential intended parents about it in the beginning, and explain it.
