Bonding with the unborn child

when a surrogate carries another womens child does that special bond that mother and child share not present any longer because the surrogate carried the child and not the biological mother?

You pose a good question, but it is important to realize that that "bond" is not necessarily created when a woman is pregnant. For example, I bond upon birth. I have never bonded with any of the children I have carried while pregnant, my own kids included. I loved them, wanted to take care of them, protect them, keep them healthy, but did not fall in love with them until my children were placed in my arms at birth.

The four surrogate babies I have given birth to had their own mothers to fall in love with them at birth, and their bond was formed then.

I don't think something so great as surrogacy could ever displace the love a mother and child feel for one another. I was simply a caring babysitter. Mom is the woman who will take care of that baby for his entire life. That is love. That is your bond.

So no, surrogacy does not replace or eliminate the bond a parent feels for their child. Its simply an extra step in bringing a new life to this world.
