Do surrogate mothers and the unborn child share the same blood type?
I was a surrogate back in 97 by In Vito. I gave birth to two beautiful fraternal twin girls. Someone asked me a question the other day as to whether I share the same blood type as the babies even though they are not genetically linked to me, I am however the birth mother. I said good question...
Reply by Rayven Blood type is a genetic trait passed from parents to their child. It is passed the same way hair or eye color is.
There are 8 different common blood types. Whether you have the same type as the babies you delivered, I have no idea. You and your neighbor might have the same blood type. You and the intended parents might have the same blood type. Whether you do or do not really does not make any difference, just like if you happen to have brown eyes and one of the babies happens to have brown eyes. It means nothing.
If you were a gestational surrogate mother, you did not contribute any genetic material to the child whatsoever. Did the baby receive nutrition from your blood? Yep. But that did not alter the chemical make-up of her blood.
Hope this helps!
