Do you know an insurance plan that allows surrogate pregnancies?

I am trying to find an insurance plan that includes coverage for surrogacy pregnancies. I have found lots of insurance carriers that do maternity coverage, but do not cover surrogacy pregnancies. Do you have an recommendations?

Private insurance will vary by the state the insurance is obtained in. Have you gotten copies of the actual policies to determine that surrogacy is not covered, or are you asking a representative? Oftentimes, a representative has absolutely no idea what you are talking about. It is better to look over the policy yourself, make sure that there are no exclusions that specifically exclude surrogacy (if it does not mention surrogacy, chances are it's covered) and then bring the policy to your attorney to make sure.

Remember, the policy is in the surrogate mother's name, not the intended mother's name.

Another option is a Lloyd's of London policy, but these are extremely expensive, come with an incredibly high deductible, and are mainly to cover major problems in pregnancy, not a regular one.

Keep checking. Insurance policies do exist.

If all else fails, you can always forgo insurance for a medical discount card. This is a nice option to have available in case a surrogate gets pregnant and then realizes that there is no insurance.
