How many cycles does it usually take?

by Caitlin
(Braintree, ma)

Help! we have been using a GS and have had two failed cycles. We've only done single embryo transfers each time b/c we have not had a lot of success with producing a lot of eggs :-( We are going to try a 3rd cycle and then my hubby says that is it. are there people out there who have gotten pregnant after failed cycles. Please email me if so, b/c I'm feeling hopeless!
Thanks!

Caitlin, YES, many surrogate mothers have gotten pregnant after one, two, or even three failed cycles. Especially when transferring only one embryo.

Don't give up hope at this time! Positive thinking makes a surprising difference!

Another factor that makes a huge difference in the success of a transfer is the quality of the eggs. As you are mentioning difficulty producing eggs, I am assuming you are using your own eggs. If the quality of your eggs is not wonderful, AND you are only transferring one embryo at a time, the combination of these factors might be hindering your efforts.

Talk with your doctor about egg quality and see if this is a factor. Many surrogate pregnancies use donor eggs successfully. This might or might not be an option in your situation.
