I recently decided to become a gestational surrogate mother. I have had a few people ask me already how much compensation i want. This is something i have not put alot of thought into. I of coarse want something reasonable. I have 2 children and a husband. I do not want to rip anyone off or be greedy. But i dont know what I should tell these couples. I dont want to ask too much, or too little. I dont want to upset anyone. Most people dont have alot of money to pay the surrogate alot when they are already having to pay for treatments and medication. Please help....

Sarah,
There are many different factors to consider when evaluating what you wish to ask for compensation.
Do you wish to ask for a typical, itemized compensation? Most first time surrogates ask for $15-20,000 compensation, plus extras for an itemized plan.
An all-inclusive (no extras) is typically $22,000-25,000 for a first time surrogate.
And are you going to be firm on your compensation, or will you negotiate with intended parents?
What extras are important to you?
If all of this seems overwhelming to you, check with surrogacy agencies and see what compensation they offer surrogates. Often, they are a good place to start to get ideas.
