I have a surrogacy compensation question! And a few others!

I am a first time surromom and am unsure of what to ask as comp. I am not too demanding and am not in it for the money so I want to be fair. Also is FL a surro friendly state? Does not having my insurance cover surrogate pregnancy make a huge deal when it comes to finding IPs? P.S. I love your site!

Yes, Florida is a very surrogacy friendly state, so long as the intended parents are a married, heterosexual couple. Florida is not friendly for gay couples, unfortunately.

As to what your fees should be, that is something that only you and your partner, and possibly your intended parents, should decide. You can find out more about what types of surrogacy compensation are appropriate here:

Depending on how you decide you want to structure your surrogacy compensation, most first time surrogates get between $18-25,000. Keep in mind that the higher scale is more for all-inclusive compensation.

As to your lack of medical insurance, yes, that will be a problem. It is tough to find an affordable medical insurance policy for the surrogate mother to use, and this may affect both the length of time it takes you to match and your overall compensation amount. But, surrogates without their own medical insurance get matched all the time!
