First, its important to realize that no actual eggs are ever transferred into a surrogate mother. Instead, embryos, which result from the combination of the eggs and sperm by the fertility doctor, are transferred into a surrogate's womb.
Next, you should never be "told" how many embryos they "will" transfer. You should be part of the decision making process. This is your body. And the consequences of transferring too many embryos are something you will personally have to deal with.
How many babies will you get? There is no way to know. You could end up with none. You could have 1, 2, or 3. One or more could split and become identical twins or even split twice and become identical quadruplets. Anything can happen.
If you are not comfortable carrying triplets, do not transfer 3 embryos. If your intended parents do not want to raise triplets, do not transfer 3 embryos. If everyone is OK with triplets, then this might not be a concern.
Expect that every embryo CAN turn into a full term baby. Will they in every situation? No. But they can. And if you are against selective reduction or just figure you won't have to deal with it because it probably won't happen, you need to rethink this situation.
I have always erred on the side of never put in more embryos than you would be willing to carry, but then my personal experience has been that every embryo transferred has resulted in a full-term baby for me.
Discuss these possibilities with your intended parents. And make sure you are part of the decision making process.
