Hi there I was thinking of becoming a surrogate mum. I live in scotland,Uk but have done a lot of research on the internet and found that there is a much higher demand for SM's in the US. Is this possible? I saw the struggle my sister went through to conceive her first child with her husband but thankfully was able to carry a child after 5 years of heartbreak and IV etc. She is now due in two weeks time :) I love the idea that i could give a couple their chance at having a family. I have carried my two healthy children without any problems and feel i could do this for the right couple :) Im 24 and married. My daughter is 5 and my son is 3.
Reply by Rayven Surrogacy is much more "popular" in the United States because laws in the United States generally favor the biology of the child, whereas laws in the UK favor the surrogate mother. This, coupled with a difficulty in finding a surrogate mother in the UK make the US a much more attractive option to many intended parents.
But there are so many looking! You will not have difficulty finding one.
There are agencies in the UK that can help you match, or you can go to our classified ads board here:
I'm not sure if you were inferring in your question about the possibility of assisting a set of intended parents in the US? If so, no, that is probably not an option. There are too many surrogate mothers to choose from in the United States and much more favorable laws. Unless it was family, I cannot see a set of American intended parents seeking a surrogate mother in the UK.
