My cousin is willing to carry a baby for me, what would i have to do?

Im not sure how to go about this, I am unable to have children and my cousin has stepped up and said that she would carry a baby for me, what would I have to do get guardianship or could i sign the birthcirtificate Do i just take her and raise her, what do i do?

No, you cannot just "take and raise her". You will still need to follow all the legal and medical procedures of surrogacy as though it were not your cousin, but someone you just met, acting as your surrogate mother.

The legal avenues you need to follow will depend on what state you are in, as well as if this is a traditional or gestational surrogacy. You'll need to contact a lawyer before you get started to verify these matters and to make sure that surrogacy is legal in the state the baby will be born in.

I am assuming that your cousin will not want to take a surrogate fee. If that is the case, then that will save you a substantial amount of money, but will not make this process inexpensive. Medical procedures, legal fees, medical insurance and costs plus the myriad of day to day expenses will still be on your shoulders.

To get started, I suggest you look at the Surrogacy Getting Started Guide here:http://www.information-on-surrogacy.com/simple-surrogacy.html

Don't be tempted to skip any steps (other than matching) because you "know" your surrogate.
