Shelly Baker Keeps Surrogate Twins on Dr Phil Show

The Dr Phil Show did two segments on the Michigan case of Shelly Baker, a surrogate mother who kept the surrogate twins she delivered for Amy and Scott Kehoe, because she felt that the intended mother had mental issues that put the babies in danger.
Basically all I said was..oh same old cliche "a surrogate mother is only as good as her word" Well...screw psychosis I'd rather see a slightly krazi or even a drunk drugg addled parent taking care of a child .....well a slightly addled kinda parent. My father was constantly drunk and he was awesome I mean, it was a rare occasion even thru the day that he couldve passed a breathylzer for .08 but he could pass the walking tests and such and...well that's a lot better t han a liar and cheater and...well a kidnappper which is exactly what this woman was. I can't imagine the kind of crap morals she'll instill in the kids if she even tries to do any....My dad was a honest drunk and ...well thats what I am too except I picked up where he left off ...

Psychosis? Haha. Hahhaha...hahaha....god...you make a deal, you back out of it, that's ... that's just trash. That's.....that's wrong. If you sa y you're gonna do something, and you're a decent human being, you follow thru, lying is way worse than any kind of psychosis, lying is worse than say drowning babies in a bathtub, unless you told someone you weren't gonna drown them in a bathtub. A kidnapper no better than...well anything, and sure she carried the babies she had her estrogen all jacked up and .....well...if I say that I'm not tryng to get a rise it'll make it sound like im more getting a rise and but....estrogen is a disease no less than someone jacked up on crystal meth and 151 rum is a disease of some sort. She made a deal, she backed out, she's scum. You don't back out on your word. And it's just her estrogen disease mostly im sure that made her decide she wanted to keep the babies and make up lame excuses as to why she deserved them. She's trash. Trashhhhh to the max. There are drunk drug addled "psychotics" that have spent years in jails and rehabs that are better people than someone who backs out on their word. A deal is a deal...I can't stress that enough. Is your word good? If not,then you're not, I have a lot more respect for ....just who the hell raised that woman in what sick way...I hate liars I hate cheats I hate people who don...I just...that's awful...lying... it's a lot harder to justify lies than it is to justify murder, theres a lot more decent murderers than their are liars and i can sit here so drunk that a BAC would tell a doctor I should be dead and still I'm a helluva lotbetter man than that lying cheating kidnapping sack of ....trash...

I just watched your show 'Shelly Baker keeps twins' and I was appaulled at how you treated Shelly and her Husband. Never did you ask How are the babies? It would have been another show if in five years the Shelly didnt keep the twins and something had happened, then you would have had her up on YOUR stage saying 'but didn't you have an incline, an idea or womans interition that something was not quite right? You've lost your salt, and I saw how pathectic you really are.

I wonder how the babies will handle this when they grow up. Just think about adopted children, almost all adobted children wants to know/be with their biological parents. Shelly is not handling in the babies best intressts, just her own.

....Just to clarify, the intended parents were not the biological parents of the twins. They used both an egg donor AND a sperm donor (which is pretty rare).

This woman HYJACKED these babies!!! She is a kidnapper and deserves to go to prison. It is not her right, nor her responsibility, to evaluate the parental competence of the BIOLOGICAL parents. She is a self-righteous criminal and I am APPALLED that nothing has been done legally to help the parents of these twins. They belong with their mother and father, NOT with a couple that are only too selfish to do the right thing. The bio mom's "mental illness" should not even be entered into conversation, as it, again, is none of the surrogates concern. Her JOB as a surrogate was to CARRY THE BABIES for someone who was unfortunately unable to do so. This whole thing appalls me.

Where is the law to protect these children? by: Marie
Those babies do not belong to Shelly and she needs to give them back to their parents along with all the monies payed to her for their grief. If there was some concern, she should have done her own research before she agreed to being a carrier. There are many people out there that have made mistakes (take Bush for example, a former drug user) and turned their lives around.
I feel for those parents whos children have been stolen from them by this woman after 10 years of trying to conceive, only to have someone, w/o any kind of medical degree or education, to determine she is unfit.
RETURN THOSE CHILDREN TO THEIR RIGHTFUL PARENTS!!

I agree that the surrogate was trying to keep the babies safe. Why did the intended parents not tell her about her mental condition? Wow she has kids already and now has to have twins unexpectatly. what a brave woman. Intended parents needed to have been more forthcoming. IMO. Psychosis is very serious!!! wow.
