Patricia,

Are you saying that you did not sign a contract or have your own legal representation? If that is the case, then you absolutely positively need to get yourself out of this situation. NEVER, I repeat, NEVER get involved with surrogacy without your own lawyer who has reviewed your contract.

People always think that the intended parents have a lot to lose; after all, it is their baby. But the surrogate mothers have a lot to lose as well, and it is usually they who are taken advantage of. Surrogate mothers can be left with tens of thousands of dollars in medical bills and ruined credit.

Get a lawyer (the intended parents should reimburse you for your legal fees) and get him to go over that contract with you!

And yes, the National Adoption and Surrogacy Center is a surrogacy agency. Are they aware of your contract issues?

Resources for Attorneys Specializing in Reproductive Law
by: Anonymous

Both the American Fertility Association as well as RESOLVE: National have resource lists of attorneys specializing in collaborative reproduction. The American Bar Association will also be able to guide you to the members of its Assisted Reproductive Technology Law Committee. Hope this is helpful.

I can't believe your agency is allowing this to happen. DON'T SIGN ANYTHING. Contact your cordinator asap. She will help you find an attorney for you. I have been bed rest on and off since May 11th. I am now 24 weeks. Today was put back on bed rest due to contracts I am having. Make sure you don't put a cap on your lost wages. Surro pregnancy are not like normal pregancy.
