About Rayven Perkins, Author of Information on Surrogacy

I've delivered four surrogate babies as a surrogate mother. Hi. I'm Rayven Perkins. I am the author and webmaster of this site, Information on Surrogacy. Learn all about me and my surrogate pregnancy journey here.

surrogate-babies-01; picture of Rayven Perkins, experienced surrogate mother I am happily married, currently residing in Texas.

My husband and I have two beautiful children (shown in photos here), and decided long ago that our family was complete.

We own our own business creating websites such as this one while helping others do the same. Currently, we are teaching at a local community college a 10-week course, How to Build a Successful Business Using the Internet. My husband has a Master's Degree while I have a degree from a technical college.

In 2005, I stumbled across an ad online looking for egg donors. At the time, I knew absolutely nothing about surrogacy or egg donation, so I wrongly assumed that I did not qualify to be an egg donor because my tubes were tied. This did, however, lead me to look into surrogacy, where I quickly found out that I was an eligible candidate.

I sat down with my husband and talked with him about this idea. We're not rich people. We have always wanted to do something significant to change the world, or at least a little part of it. This was our way. We both felt that surrogacy was something that we would like to further research.

I wanted to know everything about how it worked, what was expected of a surrogate mother, what could go wrong, and the correct actions to take in every possible situation.

I didn't just want to know that selective reduction was a possibility, I wanted to know why it occurred, what happened during the procedure, what the risks were, and how to avoid the situation altogether.

Finally, after those initial six months of research, we felt we were ready to find a set of intended parents to carry a surrogate pregnancy for. Initially, I contacted a local agency, and was matched with a local couple. The situation turned disastrous during the contract phase of the journey, and I walked away from it.

I found a new surrogacy agency to work with, and met a lovely set of international intended parents. We hit it off immediately and decided to work together. In June of 2006, we had our first transfer.
Journey #1:

  • June 2006, transferred 2 frozen embryos at clinic
  • Both took. Yay! Twins!
  • February 2007, delivered healthy boy/girl twins at 38weeks2days
  • After our first journey with the twin surrogate babies, my intended parents wanted one more child. So we decided to work independently and go through a second journey. Since the parents did not want another set of twins we decided to just put one embryo in at at time.

    Journey #2:

  • October 2007, transferred 1 frozen embryo at clinic
  • It took! Yay!
  • June 2008, delivered healthy boy at 38weeks2days
  • And then, in 2010, I decided to complete another journey, with a new set of intended parents from Minnesota.

    Journey #3:

  • October 2010, transferred 1 frozen embryo at clinic
  • It took! Yay!
  • June 2011, delivered healthy girl at 40weeks
  • We were very fortunate that every single embryo (frozen ones at that) that we transferred resulted in full-term, healthy surrogate babies. This 100% success rate is not very common.

surrogate-babies-03; natural children of a surrogate mother I decided to start this website, Information on Surrogacy, about halfway through my second surrogate pregnancy.

I have always been very vocal about my surrogacies and my surrogate babies, often talking to strangers about the process.

Unlike most surrogate mothers, I have never been offended by any questions that others asked.

Often, I would find people in need of a surrogate mother, or someone who would like to become a surrogate mother. And I have helped these people, on an one-on-one basis, with information and support to get started. It was because of these experiences that I decided to help more people and start this website.

As for me, we are about to transfer for one last journey. We've talked about it, and felt the need to document a journey step-by-step. So in January, 2012, I transfer for my fourth, and final journey.

Best wishes on your surrogacy journey. May you have many healthy surrogate babies!
