Information on Surrogacy

Why is it the families don't try without paying instead?

1.when it comes to the surrogates I understand that it can be difficult emotionally for the family And the surrogate(s0 in Quesrion, but Is there a trail preganacy where there's only a payment should there be no complications? I ask, because I'm not yet ready to have children, and think my regular cycle is a waste when there are others who cannot concieve on their own.
(other than the experience of what preganacy's like)

2. when it comes to what's needed for a healthy baby vitamins, foods, lifestlye the family woudl like their baby to be carried under who takes Care of that (comes out of pocket)? the family or the facility the family visits for a surrogate?

I'm having difficulty understanding exactly what it is that you are asking me. Are you asking if you could be a surrogate mother and only receive compensation if you produce a healthy, live baby? And are you saying you have not previously had children but wish to be a surrogate anyways?

First, let me address the point on only getting compensated if you successfully carry a baby to term. That is baby selling, and is illegal in all 50 states. You are basically telling the courts that you wish to be compensated for producing a child. Surrogate mothers do not get compensated for producing a child. They either get compensated for pre-birth child support, that is, for their expenses while carrying the intended parents' child, or for pain and suffering, that is, the discomfort they go through for the length of the transfer/pregnancy/delivery. If you get compensated only if there are no "complications", you are not legally getting compensated.

Now, onto your issue of wanting to be a surrogate mother without first having a child of your own. I get the sense that you feel this is simply a cost issue, and that by offering to only accept payment at birth you are avoiding the negative repercussions? First, understand that while a surrogate mother's compensation is a large part of the money issue, it is no where near the only money intended parents pay. There are medical procedures, legal fees, travel expenses, health insurance, and often agency fees as well as many incidentals that add up significantly. Offering to become compensated only if there are no complications does not reduce these other financial risks.

In addition, the finances are not the only reason that a surrogate mother must have had her own children prior to becoming a surrogate mother. There is simply no way to determine how you will feel about giving birth, and whether you will become too emotionally attached to the baby. All the money in the world would not make a difference in this case for the intended parents. In addition, ANYTHING can happen during surrogacy. It happens that a surrogate mother loses her ability to every have another child while helping another family. While this is sad for a woman who has completed her family, it is absolutely devastating to one who has not.

Your questions regarding living expenses? That's what the compensation is for. No, intended parents will not give you extra money for food. I guess it is assumed that you would be eating whether you were pregnant with their child or not. Prenatal vitamins? Since those are a pregnancy related expense, you would be reimbursed for them. Not sure what you are talking about in regards to a facility? There are agencies that match surrogate mothers and intended parents, but they do not house them.

Hope this helps!
